Thailand Pass Discontinued: New Entry Requirements from 1 July 2022

On 17 June 2022, Thailand’s Centre of COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) agreed to discontinue the requirement for travelers, both Thai and foreign, to obtain a Thailand Pass prior to arriving in Thailand. This change will come into effect as of 1 July 2022.

The required documents for vaccinated travelers wishing to enter Thailand include:

  • A valid passport, or a border pass for arrivals via border checkpoints.
  • A certificate of full vaccination against COVID-19 with an approved vaccine, no less than 14 days before their travel date. Travelers between 5 and 17 years of age who are not accompanied by their parents must have at least one dose of an approved vaccine, no less than 14 days before their travel date. Travelers accompanied by their parents are exempt from the vaccination certificate requirement.

The required documents for unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated travelers wishing to enter Thailand include:

  • A valid passport, or a border pass for arrivals via border checkpoints.
  • A RT-PCR test or professional ATK result showing the traveler’s COVID-19 negative status no more than 72 hours before their travel date.

The USD 10,000 insurance requirement for COVID-19 treatment for foreign travelers will no longer be mandatory, but it is still highly recommended.

Upon arriving in Thailand, all travelers must undergo entry screening including a body temperature check, and present the required documents to the Immigration/Health control officer to carry out the checks. Unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated travelers who are unable to show proof of a pre-arrival negative test will be required to undergo a professional ATK test at the point of entry. All expenses incurred would be the responsibility of the traveler.

The requirements for entry are subject to change, so prospective travelers are encouraged to regularly check the Tourism Authority’s website for any updates at https://www.tatnews.org/.

When entering Thailand using the Thailand Elite Visa, members must not forget their duty to conduct the 90-day reporting and notification of residence for foreigner (TM30) in accordance with Thai Immigration Law. Members must always check their arrival stamp and extension stamp to make sure that they are not overstaying to avoid penalties such as a fine, a ban from entering the country, imprisonment, and deportation.
